Farmers who grow commercial chickens in Juba County are being trained in poultry production and management techniques to expand their businesses.
World Vision Director Halima Chande told SCR News that thirteen poultry farmers operating in Juba needed skills in management, poultry production techniques and networking in order to strengthen their businesses.Ms. Chande said the farmers would learn also how to register their businesses and the importance of corporative association to obtain tax exemptions.
She added that local hotels needed some 7000 chickens per week and the poultry farmers were able to supply them fully.
Ms. Chande urged farmers to learn how to depend on themselves while they are being supported to achieve sustainability.
The four-day poultry training workshop for Juba producers was organized by the Government of Southern Sudan in collaboration with World Vision.
