A youth leader cautioned the local community to register in order to vote in the referendum, and urged the spread of information on registration centres and the time for the registration exercise.
SPLM Youth League leader of Matangai Payam, Rumbek Central County, in Lakes State, Gabriel Mabor Chot, told Good News Radio that the Southern Sudanese should take the exercise of registration seriously.Mr. Chot said everybody should be involved, regardless of age and social status, explaining that the fruits of an independent Southern Sudan will be enjoyed by all.
The youth leader revealed that 75 percent of referendum information has spread out to Lakes State community, adding that the remaining 25 percent has to do with registration venues and dates.
Mr. Chot cautioned the community against the false information that the voter card used during the April elections can be used at the referendum.
He urged the local community to come for a fresh registration in order to take part in the referendum.
Civic education with specific reference to the referendum is a priority of many organizations operating in Sudan, both local and international.
Voter registration is expected to kick off on November 14, 2010.
