The leaders of a youth organization for the referendum appealed for calm after some members were arrested in Khartoum last week.

Seven members belonging to Southern Sudan Youth Forum for Referendum were arrested while receiving the UN Security Council at Khartoum International Airport.

David Amor Majur, the secretary of the group, met today with the press in Juba and called upon his members to remain calm and not to retaliate.

Responding to some NCP voices that threatened with war an independent south Sudan, Mr. Amor said war was evil and a last resort solution.

He added that problems were solved through love and dialogue.

Mr. Amor said that some of the arrested members of the youth forum were admitted to hospital to receive treatment.

They were freed a day after the Government of South Sudan intervened to get them released.
