The situation in Abyei town calmed down after a trader was wounded by a member of the northern army belonging to the Joint Integrated Units during a random shooting two nights ago.
The Catholic parish priest of Abyei, Fr. Peter Suleiman, told SCR News over the phone that the town today was tranquil and the market opened.Fr. Suleiman added that there were some rumors that northern troops were preparing to attack the area.
He said that residents remained calm and went about with their daily lives.
