National Congress Party (NCP) officials rejected the deployment of United Nations peacekeepers along the north-south border, saying that such request is contrary to the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.

GoSS President Salva Kiir Mayardit last Wednesday asked the UN Security Council to deploy international troops along the north – south border ahead of the referendum on self-determination January next year.

GoNU foreign minister, Ali Ahmed Karti, rejected the request during his meeting with the visiting UN Security Council delegation on Saturday saying it would violate the CPA.

Yesterday Ibrahim Ghandoor, NCP political secretary, said his party rejected any measure not included in the CPA.
