The President of the Republic accused the SPLM of going back on the terms of the peace accord and warned that if some issues were not solved before the referendum civil war could start again.
Omar Hassan al-Bashir warned that a new dispute between the north and the south would be more serious than the previous war that lasted over two decades.Mr. Al-Bashir condemned Salva Kiir Mayardit’s declaration that he would vote for separation in the referendum as a violation of the CPA.
President Al-Bashir stressed that there were many issues that needed to be settled before the referendum like the demarcation of the border between the north and the south, citizenship, wealth and water sharing, and national debt.
President Al-Bashir was speaking at the extraordinary Arab summit in Serti, Libya.
