The Catholic Parish of Gumbo, near Juba, introduced peace education on its primary school to lead students and teachers to a peaceful and moral society.
The one-week workshop for primary seven pupils was organized in partnership with CRS under the theme “Teachers are the agents of peace, and students are the pillars of the peaceful society.”Father Johnson Paul Raj, Gumbo’s assistant parish priest, told SCR News that the school wanted to instill the values of peace to young people.
He added that south Sudan has a diversity of cultures and it was important that students learned the love of God and neighbor to create peace in schools, families and the society at large.
The workshop ended today with pupils performing dramas and songs.
Next week, teachers and primary six students will have their own training on peace.
