TORIT FOREIGN TRADERS RECOMMEND EXPULSION OF PROSTITUTES

Kenyan and Ugandan traders in Eastern Equatoria recommended the state authorities to expel prostitutes from Torit town in a bid to fight against the HIV AIDS scourge.

Mr. Kibizi Livingstone recommended the expulsion of prostitutes during a meeting yesterday between leaders of the two traders’ communities and the state authorities, Emmanuel Radio reported.

Mr. Kibizi is the chairman of foreign communities as well as the head of Ugandans.

Eastern Equatoria state deputy governor Nartisio Manir Lolukei, who chaired the meeting, agreed with the resolution.

Mr. Manir urged the leaders to tell their communities that sex workers were liable for expulsion.

The deputy governor called of the Ugandan and Kenyan communities to use their experiences to help the fight HIV AIDS before it spreads like a time bomb across Southern Sudan.

Mr. Manir also urged the Torit County Commissioner to hold monthly meetings with foreign traders to report on issues of security.

Torit County commissioner, Felix Siro Otuduha, and the Police Commander in charge of Public order attended the meeting that aimed at sharing concerns of security, and economic and social issues between foreign traders and the state authorities.
