SPLM AND NCP AGREE TO CONDUCT REFERENDUM AS SCHEDULED

The Sudan Peoples’ Liberation Movement SPLM and the National Congress Party NCP agreed to conduct the referendum as scheduled.
Both parties made the declaration following a meeting with the AU high-level panel on CPA implementation in Khartoum on Monday, SRS reported.

In a press conference after the meeting in Khartoum Pagan Amum Akech SPLM Secretary General said the two parties resolved the key areas that could hinder the conduct of the referendum.

Mr. Pagan revealed that the commission is now ready to conduct the referendum on 9th of January 2011.
The presidential advisor for the national security affairs, Salah Gosh, appealed to the international
community to fulfill its commitments towards south Sudan’s referendum on self-determination.
