Unidentified gunmen on Friday wounded a Comboni Missionary priest hit with a bullet through the lower back on the left sustaining it between the ribs.
The Comboni Missionary who works at Mapuordit Mission was shot at around 6:00 PM between Makur Agar and Agany villages in Lake State while on board driven back from Rumbek together with other missionaries.
The Missionary car suddenly came under attack by three armed men, one of them reportedly in military uniform, appearing from bushy roadside.
The attackers attempted to stop the car, but the driver sped up, aware of tribal conflicts in the area since three passengers of different tribes were on board, receiving rains of bullets breaking the car back glasses.
The wounded missionary was admitted in Mapuordit Mission Hospital two hours later and that he is recovering steadily.
