The Sudanese Revolutionary Front or SRF announced its readiness to sign a six-month cessation of hostilities with the government, calling for engagement in a genuine and comprehensive dialogue.
The group in a five-day meeting in Paris, France discussed political situation in the country and adopted an “alternative roadmap towards peace and a comprehensive National Constitutional Dialogue”, Radio Voice of Peace reported.
SRF in a statement stressed its support for conducting an inclusive preparatory meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia under the auspices of the African Union High Implementation Panel to determine the nature and details of the National Constitutional Dialogue.
The Front refused to consider engaging in a National Dialogue arranged by the National Congress Party or NCP-led government which decided on its the leadership of the dialogue.
It reiterated its support for the African Union Peace and Security Council decision which calls on Khartoum to accept an all-parties pre-dialogue meeting in Addis Ababa.
SRF groups are signatories to the Sudan Call with the National Umma Party of Sadiq al-Mahdi, the political coalition of National Consensus Forces and civil society groups.
Sudanese President Omer Bashir recently announced his willingness to a two-month ceasefire in Blue Nile and South Kordofan States and Darfur region in order to hold the dialogue in a “healthy atmosphere”.
