Citizens of Lakes State on Tuesday in the Basket Show program welcome cabinet’s proposal to delay 2015 general elections until 2017 and first work hard to bring peace.
John Raanben John, a resident of Rumbek Center said the move to delay the elections was a significant step towards restoring peace and stability in conflict-affected states, Radio Good News reported.
Nyiop Maker Lueth said holding elections simply to safeguard the government’s legitimacy was not the right solution, saying both rival parties must set aside their differences for the common good of South Sudanese.
Ajuong Mangui Gak said restoring peace was the country’s most pressing need and that conducting elections without national census was unconstitutional mandate.
