Hundreds of citizens in Wau, Western Bahr El Ghazal State on Friday rallied up in a civil society led protest condemning rebellion dangers and support the general elections scheduled for late June.

Protestors matched from Wau Freedom Square to the State Secretariat carrying banners reading ‘we support 2015 election; we support Salva Kiir as the only president without replacement, no for war, yes for peace’, Radio Voice of Hope reported.

State Workers Trade Union Chairperson Donato Ugali read out the condemnation letter, supporting continuation of the government led by President Salva Kiir Mayardit.

Western Bahr El Ghazal Women Union Chairperson Saida Saleim expressed women suffering in the war, condemned the opposition and supports elections to avoid government vacuum.

State Governor Rizik Zachariah thanked the protestors for expressing their opinions against rebellion for peace to prevail in the state.

The protest followed reports of opposition believed to have established their camps in the borders of Western Bahr El Ghazal with Sudan’s Darfur areas.
