Logistical challenges in Eastern Equatoria Education Ministry delayed distribution of Primary Leaving Exams question papers on Friday to several centres.
Quality Promotion and Innovation Acting Director Genesis Ohide told Radio Emmanuel that lack of transport delayed exams papers’ delivery to centres for candidates to begin on Monday, Radio Emmanuel reported.
He lamented that a change in the mandate of United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS negatively affected education services because it used to airlift examination papers by helicopter.
The Acting Director said in 2014, Eastern Equatoria registered 3,309 candidates in 93 schools plus 13 Accelerated Learning Program Centres and one Technical Centre.
Mr Ohide disclosed that the exams would kick off with Social Studies and English Language on Monday; followed by Mathematics and Science on the second day.
Primary Exams Inspector Henry Langoya compiled a list of exams centres, schools indicating 2,251 are male candidates and 1,058 female candidates.
89 males and 23 females are of the Accelerated learning program and five others from Junior Technical Training Centre.
