Government Spokesperson openly denied an agreement document giving President and proposed Prime Minister shared executive powers in the transitional government of national unity.
Michael Makuei Lueth on Tuesday told the press in Juba that the widely circulated document on the competences and powers of the Prime Minister and the President was controversial and that the government rejected it.
He described the document as a contravention to previous Intergovernmental Authority on Development or IGAD’s August 25, protocol.
The Sokesperson cautioned masses against taking the document genuine for any reference, describing it a source of confusion making South Sudan a test ground for a new principle of governance.
He criticized the joint appointment of constitutional post holders by the President and Prime Minister, terming it ‘non-existent all over the world’.
Mr Makuei criticized that the document had no authority of reference except the two persons, IGAD Chief Mediator Seyoum Mesfin disclosed after pressure from IGAD heads.
IGAD in a summit warned the warring parties of direct intervention in South Sudan to protect lives and restore peace and stability.
