The Bishop of Yei Diocese Episcopal Church of South Sudan and Sudan or ECSSS urged the government and SPLM/A in opposition to stop the ‘ugly war’ damaging the country and amicably settle differences to pave way for peace and development.
Bishop Hillary Luwate Adeba said war scares investors and keeps the country underdeveloped, Radio Easter reported.
He urged journalists across the country to stick to their ethics in providing accurate and balanced information that does not cause havoc.
Yei Mayor Santo Paul Lasuba also appealed to media practitioners to report non-conflict instigating messages to communities, calling on them to focus on peace, unity, love and development.
He assured citizens of governments’ commitment to maintain stable security, urging them to immediately report cases of insecurity to authorities for quick action.
The leaders made the statements during the Spirit FM’s tenth anniversary celebration in Yei Municipality on Saturday.
