Eastern Equatoria Legal administer called on chiefs to practice the knowledge on customary laws they gained in the five-day training.
Deng Acuil made the call on Friday at the closing of the training on customary in Torit t conducted by the United Nation Development Programme, Radio Emmanuel reported.
State Director for Native and Counties’ Affairs Alfred Odong called on the trainees to implement the skills they learnt from the course, especially about gender-based violence and child rights.
One of the participants said they learned structures and the role of traditional authorities and formal courts in the administration of local justice, human rights approaches to local justice, gender mainstreaming in customary courts.
He said they also learnt about strategies for improving functions of customary courts.
The training brought together traditional leaders from the eight counties of Eastern Equatoria, Local Government administrators and community-based organizations.
