Tombura-Yambio Catholic Diocesan Justice and Peace Commission on Saturday organized a one-day workshop on peace initiative to the community of Saura Boma of Yambio town Payam.

The Commission’s Peace mobiliser Anigie Rhoda Jeremiah said they targeted 24 participants, but 30 people turned up including local community representatives, women, youths, church leaders, headmen and Yambio Payam administrator, Anisa Radio reported.

She said they are empowering the participants on how to spread the message of peace to the communities and form peace clubs in schools and churches.

Ms Jeremiah said the major conflicts in Saura Boma raised during the training are border conflict, violence against women and fighting among many others.

She lamented that local communities expected to get money from the training to facilitate their peace clubs.

Participants’ representatives Adriano Noti and Mary Ezibon appreciated the workshop, saying they learnt how to live peacefully and forgive one another in the society.

The training also discussed sustainable human development, conflict analysis and resolution and environmental justice.
