Fourteen delegates from major humanitarian aid organizations requested legal authorities to fully investigate into the crimes committed in Maban County and take necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of charitable staff.
In a statement on Monday, the agencies strongly condemned the recent attacks and killings of five South Sudanese aid workers, calling on both parties to refrain from targeted carnage, respect the international humanitarian law and allow aid staff access those in need.
The delegates said the violent and senseless attacks jeopardize life-saving humanitarian projects for supporting vulnerable refugee and host population.
The agencies said they take the security of their staff extremely serious and would review their ability to operate in the region should their staff’s safety continue to be called into question.
