Cordaid calls for consideration to oil producing communities

South Sudan Cordaid Extractives Advisor on Wednesday called on the government to consider oil producing communities which are left without development.
 
Martin Kwori Wullla during a two-day social performance workshop on oil, gas and mining said before the independence, Sudan did not care about local communities.
 
He said the government did very little to improve their conditions despite the fact that their land generates high income to the country.
 
He said that the workshop aimed at creating awareness on key international frame work related to oil, gas and mining as foundations contributing to policy discussions and planning.
 
The Advisor added that it execute constructive community awareness campaign, acknowledging that oil is critical for the development of the new nation.
 
The Advisor spoke during a two-day workshop on issues of oil, gas and mining for the Petroleum Ministry’s staff, oil companies and civil society organizations in Juba.
