South Sudan marks International Youth Day in Juba

South Sudan on Tuesday marked International Youths Day in Juba under the theme: ‘Mental health matters’.
 
The National Deputy Minister for Youths, Culture and Sports Josephine Napwon told the press that the government would put mental disorder issue to a top place within the national agenda, Bakhita Radio reported.
 
She said there is need for having a legal framework to address mental disabilities among young people.
 
UNICEF Youth Specialist Jairus Ligoo said mental health of youths is important and should be treated.
 
He said South Sudan mental health information is unknown, but that 20 percent of the world population of the youth experience situation yearly.
 
The head of South Sudan Youths Union Manut Maluel called on the government to give young people a space to organize their activities.
 
He said the Union produced two documents to be presented to the government this week on mental health and youth unemployment issues in the country.
