The office of Gender and Social Development in Yei River County of Central Equatoria drafted child abuse by-laws intended to punish all those involved in the act.
Gender and Social Development Assistant Commissioner Victoria Nasera Augustine said the by-laws were forwarded to the Municipal Council for deliberations and implementation within three weeks, Easter Radio reported.
She called on communities to report child abuse cases for perpetrators to face the law.
The Assistant Commissioner said her office registered around five cases, mainly rape excluding unreported ones and those happening in rural areas.
