Sudan opposition sign ‘Paris Declaration’ on transformation

National Umma Party or NUP and Sudan Revolutionary Front or SRF on Friday signed the ‘Paris Declaration’ to unite Sudan’s opposition forces and reach a democratic transformation.
 
The two-day meeting of the NUP leader El Sadig El Mahdi and SRF chairman Malik Agar in Paris, France was to end Khartoum regime under President Omar Al Bashir and unify all political parties and civil society organisations, Voice of Peace reported.
 
In the Declaration, Umma and SRF delegations agreed to maintain the unity of Sudan, stop the war for national dialogue to commence, provide freedom to citizens and reach to a transitional government.
 
They agreed to cease all hostilities in all areas, tackle humanitarian crises and stop air strikes against civilians.
 
The meeting resolved to hold Khartoum regime responsible for targeting civilians and committing war crimes and transform Sudan into a democratic country.
 
They agreed also to hold the regime responsible for stirring up ethnic and tribal differences and destroying the social fabric in an attempt to control power.
 
The meeting resolved to prioritise humanitarian aid in conflict areas, improve security situation in the country, ensure affected people are compensated individually and collectively and restore relationship between the states and the central government.
 
Umma and SRF delegations consented to ‘support regional and international efforts to achieve peace and reconciliation in South Sudan.
