Tombura-Yambio Catholic Diocesan humanitarian office on Friday distributed some food and non-food items to 649 former Lord’s Resistance Army or LRA abductees in Gangura Payam of Yambio County.
Humanitarian Response Project Manager Peter Saru Paul said they distributed 20 bags of maize flour, 20 bags of Sugar, washing soaps and cooking oil, Anisa Radio reported.
KODA Group Chairperson Justin Morris thanked the Diocese for assisting the former abductees mostly vulnerable children.
He lamented that many children live without education or access to health facilities and the former abductees lack farming tools and seeds to survive on.
Tombura-Yambio Catholic Diocese Social Affairs Director James Mabu promised to talk to partners for vulnerable children to have basic services including education and health, advising them to stay united.
Western Equatoria inter-church committee gave a number of trauma healing workshops to the abductees across the state, encouraging them to form small groups.
