At least 4428 internally displaced persons or IDPs who fled their homes in fear of attacks in Wau County are in need of humanitarian assistance.

Bassia Paramount Chief Gabriel Unango Julu said the IDPs who escaped insecurity from Gitan, Taban, Gedi, Nimatina areas and took refuge in Bussere are in dire need of shelter, medicines and food, Voice of Hope reported.

He called on non-governmental organizations to assess the IDPs and give basic services.

Chief Unago said they raised the report to Wau government because that the IDPs are lacking food, water, medicines and many depend on their relatives.

The areas where government and opposition forces exchanged fire interrupted agricultural activities.
