Pope Francis asked Christians in South Sudan, Kenya and the world to join him in praying for the success of peace initiatives in the Middle East.
In a circular addressed to Archbishops, Bishops, priests and ordinary Christians on Friday, the Pope requested Christians of all sort and people of good will to offer a special prayer for the gift of lasting peace inspired by Jesus Christ.
Pope Francis quoted Jesus’ teaching in the Gospel of Matthew that ‘if two people agree on earth about anything for which they pray, it shall be granted to them’.
The Pope is expected to meet the Patriarch of Constantine Bartolommeo on Sunday in Vatican.
