A long serving Libya I Primary School Teacher in Munuki Payam of Juba County on Thursday evening revealed increasing rape cases of school girls assigned to sell tea or fruits along road sides at evening hours.
Margaret Barsaba told CRN that a 15-year old girl was sent by her grandmother to buy commodities from a nearby shop in evening hours only to fall a prey of rape to an unidentified man who drove her from Munuki to Gurei area.
The teacher added that the rape case was reported to the school and police, but the rapist could not be identified.
Madam Barsaba said parents also reported another rape case to Libya I Primary School after 72 hours, making it helpless for medical intervention to save the girl from possible contraction of sexual transmitted diseases.
The teacher advised mothers to stop assigning girls to sell tea or anything along road sides for the sake of their future.
She warned that rape cases are increasing in Munuki area, citing at least four in recent days.
Munuki Centre Primary School PTA member Nathana Peter Balli confirmed occurrence of rape cases at Nyökurön area due to indecent dressing.
He said girls sometimes pretend to be out for studies or church services, only to end up fornicating.
He added that the use of mobile telephones by some school girls facilitates immoral practices.
The parent observed that disciplining children requires joint efforts from community members, authorities and teachers.
