Western Equatoria State Legislative Parliamentarian said Equatoria demands for the federal governance where sovereign powers are divided but not separation of the country.
MP Daniel Izbon told Bakhita Radio Wake Up Juba talk show on Wednesday that Equatorians demand for federalism was to enable devolution of powers to the state government.
He clarified that Equatorians do not demand for separation where all tribes would go to their respective states.
The legislator opposed the decentralized system of government where power was centred on the central government.
MP Izbon said Equatorians are advocating for a power of self management to the state, calling on citizens not to misinterpret the meaning of federalism.
President Salva Kiir Mayardit while opening National Legislative Assembly on Monday said the demand for federal governance was not really workable.
He said federalism demand was a pretext used by his rival SPLM/A in opposition leader Dr Riek Machar Teny to divide internal front in South Sudan.
