Great Lakes delegations visits Juba for fact-finding mission

The Delegations of the Forum of Parliaments of the International Conference on the Great Lake Region Headed by MP Lazarus Chungu Bwalya are in Juba for a fact-finding mission.
 
He told journalists on Tuesday that their visit was to gather information on the root causes of the conflict, understand political, security and humanitarian situation and assess the implementation of the cessation of hostilities agreement signed on May 9, Bakhita Radio reported.
 
He added that the delegation wanted to determine whether political parties in South Sudan set up framework to national healing, peace, national reconciliation and fundamental systematic reform.
 
MP Chungu said after making the assessment, the delegation will report to the Forum of Parliament of the International Conference of Great Lakes Region.
 
He said the report will first go to Executive Committee, Speaker of the Conference and to the Forum Plenary Assembly for final analysis.
 
The delegations attended the opening of the National Legislative Assembly session and met the speaker, various government authorities, UN and AU officials.
 
The Forum encouraged the conflicting parities to set a framework for effective implementation of the cessation of hostilities agreement.
