Youths under the umbrella of Civil Society Alliance took to Juba streets on Monday, protesting against isolation from participating in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia peace talks between the government and SPLM/A in opposition.
Greater Upper Nile, Bahr El Ghazal and Equatoria Youth Association or GUBEYA Information Secretary Teng Mario Madhieu told the press that youths handed over petition to US Ambassador, EU Ambassador, heads of IGAD office in Juba, National Parliament and executive arm of the government.
He said the petition was calling for a political will of both parties to peacefully resolve the conflict.
The Secretary argued that issues of governance and constitutional reforms should involve the youth because the future belongs to them.
Mr Mario said the civil society alliance would play an impartial role in representing the interest of South Sudanese youths.
Many observers argued that there are no independent civil society organizations in South Sudan, describing them as ‘opportunists’ used by the government.
