Caritas South Sudan, a Catholic Church organization official on Tuesday said they realized that needs of Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs in Agok area of Abyei remain huge despite reasonable efforts directed to meet basic needs of shelter and food.
Communication official Faith Kasina told CRN in an interview that IDPs’ population keeps on swelling from time to time making needs too vast to satisfy.
She said Caritas support would never be enough because it works under limited context, hoping partners would help IDPs’ situation in Agok.
Ms Kasina said there was need to support education facility for hundreds of IDPs’ children through construction of schools, provision of stationery and recruitment of more competent teachers.
She revealed that he saw hundreds of school children in Agok, yearning to learn English, Mathematics and other disciplines near Caritas compound in the area.
The official said Caritas distributed one thousand kits of non-food items including buckets, blankets, plastic sheets, soap.
She added that they distributed sleeping mats to families in Lirya, Mangalla and Lobonok Payams of Juba County apart from similar distribution to 3,400 households in Agok area of Abyei region.
Ms Kasina also disclosed Caritas plans to support IDPs within Juba City.
Agok hosts more than five thousand IDPs in three main camps of Majak-Deng-Kaya, Rumarial and Magar who fled from Upper Nile and Bahr El Ghazal regions.
