Tonj South Mayor in Warrap State on Monday urged the business community to stop selling commodities using plastic bags in markets to maintain cleanliness in markets.
Machar Ater gave another two-day after seven-day to all traders, restaurants owners, tea sellers and other businesses to use newspapers for selling commodities to costumers, Don Bosco Radio reported.
He said after the two-day ultimatum, police would hunt down plastic bags in markets to maintain clean environment.
Mr Ater said the aim of stopping plastic bags was to prevent flies and stop cattle from dying after eating them.
The Mayor advised traders not to keep empty bottles, cartons, plastic bags and other rubbish in front of their shops.
He called on restaurants owners, tea sellers, local brewers and other feeding business to cover their hair with piece of cloth to keep food safe.
The Mayor urged the restaurants owners, tea sellers and local brewers to go for medical test to have their heath certificate to maintain healthiness to do public work.
He warned that violators would be arrested and fined in courts of law.
He advised citizens to use clean water to prevent water borne diseases in their areas.
