Government signed a peace deal with SPLM/A in opposition to consider a “month of tranquility” starting on May 7.
Several media reports say the new peace deal is meant to allow civilians caught up in the four-month conflict to move to places of safety and plant crops.
The agreement also renewed a commitment by the warring parties to open humanitarian corridors amid warnings from the United Nations of a possible famine.
The accord follows U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry’s visit to Juba seen as a rare sign of progress in realizing peace talks.
