United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in South Sudan called on warring parties to observe at least one month of tranquillity to provide a safe environment for aiding conflict victims.
Toby Lanzer in a Statement on Tuesday appealed to government and SPLM/A in opposition to stop fighting to enable safe and free movement of people without fear of violence, adding that citizens have the right to move around the country to take care of livestock or engage in other developmental activities.
He said one month without violence would allow people to cultivate and prepare fields to ensure that they have a harvest at the end of 2014.
Mr Lanzer disclosed that the only way to reverse crisis and its grave humanitarian consequences is to find a political resolution.
The official said one month of tranquillity could be a tangible step with an immediate impact on lives of millions of South Sudanese.
