Women activists applaud President Kiir for releasing political detainees

South Sudanese Women Civil Society Organizations and individual Women Activists applauded the President of the Republic for taking a step to pardon and release the four political detainees.
 
In a statement, the activists also applauded the Judiciary of South Sudan for handling the case in a professional way.
 
The statement hailed the political detainees for their strong position in support of peace and promoting a non-violent approach.
 
The women activists called on SPLM/A in Opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar to take a step toward peace and accepting true dialogue.
 
The activists resolved to establish a National Women Platform for Peace for restoring peace and stability in South Sudan.
 
They also resolved to organize periodic solidarity visits to the IDPs and the affected communities and engage the elders.
 
The statement added that women organizations at the state level must participate in monitoring and verification of the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement and the AU Commission for Inquiries.
