Kapoeta East communities in Kalokupe, Poongo, Naliel, Kauto, Nawayopak, Nabwaliangaknei, Jie and Mogos face severe famine and lack of basic needs including education and clothing.
Kapoeta East County Commissioner Titos Lukwachuma told visiting State Health Minister Dr Margret Ito that the communities feed on wild fruits and that their children are not getting education and health services at all, Bakhita Radio reported.
The communities demanded government and humanitarian partners to rescue them with relief aid.
Dr Ito advised the starving communities to grow more food crops during the rainy season to avoid dependence on relief assistance.
She told residents to send their children to school instead of goading cattle in the bush.
Residents told Bakhita Radio Journalist most of them in the villages feed on blood, meat and wild fruits, drinking dirty water like animals.
