Gender Child and Social Welfare ministry on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding about sign language with an organization Light for the World, South Sudan.
Undersecretary Esther Ikere Eluzai said sign language promotes education for persons with hearing impairment in the country, Bakhita Radio reported.
She added that sign language makes it easy for one to communicate with persons of special needs.
Representative from Light for the World Dr Toyin Aderemi revealed that they had been working on development activities in South Sudan since 2005.
She said the organization enhances the quality of life of the people with disability all over the world.
Dr Aderemi added that sign language fosters unity among people in deaf community.
The officials made the statement during Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony at National Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster management in Juba.
