Kajo Keji County Authority ordered police to kill street dogs following a report that dog biting and killing of two people in January.
The Animal Resources and Fisheries Acting Commissioner Taban Eli Emmanuel on Tuesday told CRN in a telephone interview that the two persons died due to lack of anti rabbis’ drug for treating the patients in hospital.
He added that six other people were bitten and reported to Kajo Keji Civil Hospital.
Mr Eli said the state ministry told them to buy dog bite vaccines from the neighbouring Uganda, but they could not afford.
He urged dog owners to register with the veterinary office for vaccination.
The Acting Commissioner advised people to take good care of dogs by providing treatment not to stray around to bite.
Kajo-Keji County Senior Information Inspector Beden Elikana Kenyi said the outbreak of the rabbis causes threat and panic to the community.
He decried the lack of the anti rabbis vaccine, echoing communities’ appeal for quick intervention.
