Humanitarian Coordinator in South Sudan said United Nations Development Program, UNDP is establishing simple livelihoods projects in UN compounds to encourage Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs to work and develop economic ventures.
Toby Lanzer told the press on Tuesday that the program would make IDPs self-reliant to minimize dependence on relief aid which is running out of hand.
He believes the project would empower IDPs to take care of their future.
Mr Lanzer expresses strong belief and hope that South Sudan would still become a viable state through reconciliation given the abilities of the people.
The Humanitarian Coordinator sees a bright future for the nation, wondering when and how South Sudanese would get to the point.
Mr Lanzer said the plight of IDPs in UN bases over the country is overburdening humanitarian efforts and the organization is doing everything it can to better their conditions.
He stressed the essence of national population census in South Sudan for effective planning and service delivery to the citizens.
