UN commits to protect candidates

The United Nations Children Fund or UNICEF, United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS and other key partners committed to ensure that the 341 Primary Leaving Certificate candidates including 42 girls do their exams safely.
 
UNMISS in a statement said it was committed to providing protective space for the pupils during the exams.
 
The mission registered 254 in Tomping Compound and 87 candidates in UN House sitting for exams.
 
The Primary schools exams will run at the two UNMISS sites from 13 to 17 January.
 
Over 58 thousand civilians are seeking protection in ten UNMISS bases: 29 thousand in Juba, 8,800 in Bentiu, nine thousand in Bor and ten thousand in Malakal due to continuous fighting between the government forces and rebelling group.
