Hundreds of citizens in Western Bahr El Ghazal or WBG on Tuesday walked to streets in protest against the Sunday failed coup attempt in Juba.
The demonstrators included civil servants, school children chanted slogans of ‘yes for peace no for conflict, we want peaceful Christmas not bloodshed Christmas’, Voice of Hope reported.
They condemned the coup attempt as against the unity of the country and called on perpetrators to face justice.
WBG Deputy Governor Joseph Garang told demonstrators at the state secretariat not to panic because the state was in support of President Salva Kiir.
Wau Mayor Arkangelo Anyar Anyar said security in the state was stable and that there was no room for coup plotters.
Businesses in Wau came to standstill as most citizens left work places frightened following Juba clashes.
Calm returned on Tuesday and many civil servants resumed their normal duties.
