The United Nations High Commission for Refugees or UNHCR on Tuesday promised 300 thousand dollars to upgrade schools in Western Equatoria State.
Senior Integration Officer Kate Makanga and Community Service Associate Jackline John met State Education Minister to discuss the grant for education, Anisa Radio reported.
Ms Makanga disclosed that her aim of visiting the state was to integrate refugees and set strategic plans for their livelihoods in Makpandu Refugee camp.
She added that her third mission was to support schools in critical conditions in Western Equatoria as requested by Education Minister Pia Philip Michael.
Ms Makanga pointed out that the money would be available in the UNHCR coming year’s budget 2014.
Education Minister Pia Philip Michael said Mundri and Ezo Secondary Schools, Namaiku and Yabua Primary Schools in Nzara County and were in critical conditions.
