South Sudan hosts an estimated total of 280 thousand refugees from neighbouring Sudan, Central African Republic and DR Congo.
Foreign Minister Barnaba Marial Benjamin on Thursday told CRN that the refugees influx into the country was increasing humanitarian need at critical time of austerity measures.
He added that 240 thousand refugees alone fled from Sudan.
Dr Marial said the government and humanitarian partners were providing land for settlement, shelters, food, clean water, medicine and protection to the refugees.
He revealed that South Sudan was engaging conflict-ravaged neighbouring countries including Sudan and DRC in peace talks with rebels to end refugee plight in the region.
Central, Western Equatoria States and Western Bahr El Ghazal State host refugees from DRC and Central African Republic while Unity and Upper Nile States host Sudanese refugees.
