South Sudan political parties on Wednesday issued a communiqué calling for timely recognition of the final results of the Abyei unilateral referendum.
Political parties’ representative Taban Luka Guya read the communiqu√© that they recognized Abyei referendum results, Bakhita Radio reported.
The parties appreciated and commended UNISFA efforts and urged the international community to provide humanitarian assistance to people on the area.
They also urged South Sudanese and civil society organizations to recognize the Ngok Dinka unilateral referendum results.
David William Tut of United Democratic Front said when AU delegation visited Abyei, they did not recognize the referendum results and referred them to South Sudan and Sudan Presidents.
He said the people of Abyei were fed up of their issues being handled by the two presidents.
Mr William called on the political parties to lobby for support from the international community for the AU to recognize Ngok Dinka efforts.
The political parties testified that the nine Ngok Dinka chiefdom referendum process was orderly, peaceful and credible.
