Yambio County Police Inspector warned Yambio citizens against spreading unreliable information.
Charles Guli Lisasa said he received wrong information about the appearance of the Lord’s Resistance Army or LRA in Makpandu and Gangura areas in Yambio County, Anisa Radio reported.
He refuted the rumours saying security and organised forces assessed the areas and found no evidence on the ground.
Mr Guli dismissed rumours that two women suspected to be LRA were detained in the police custody in Yambio.
He condemned some individuals for fabricating wrong information to threaten citizens to run away in order to steal their homes and farms.
Yambio County Police Inspector advised the general public to seek reliable information from the headmen, nearby police station and government officials.
He warned all citizens that anybody found fabricating rumours would be
investigated and brought to book.
