Seven thieves attacked two men at Manyangok payam in Tonj South County of Warrap State and stabbed one of them with spear on the back.
Tonj South Police Commissioner Santino Monybut told Radio Don Bosco that the two men were cutting their poles in the bush.
He said the wounded man was brought to Tonj Civil Hospital for treatment.
Mr Monybut said four of the thieves were with guns and three with spears and sticks.
He strongly urged the police to hunt the thieves or raiders who ran into the bush.
Mr Monybut advised Greater Tonj communities to allow police to hunt down thieves and raiders to the secure the areas.
