United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS Coordinator in Wau, Western Bahr El Ghazal, pledged continuous support to enhance good governance and peace building in the state.
Osman Dogar made the pledge during the UN Day celebration under the theme ‘One South Sudan-one UN’ on Thursday, Voice of Hope reported.
He said UNMISS was present in Wau to help the state government in good governance, rule of law, extension of state authority, education, health, agriculture, infrastructure and strategic planning.
Mr Dogar said the Mission will continue to do collective actions to benefit the state.
He read the speech of the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon who said that the UN will continue working more closely with the government of the South Sudan to end the conflicts.
State Governor Rizik Zachariah Hassan appreciated the role the UN plays in the state and in the country especially in capacity building of human power.
He apologized for some misdeeds that individuals might have committed against UNMISS personnel and called for more coordination to realize unity in the country.
The celebration was coloured by traditional dances from South Sudan, Kenya and Mongolia.
