CES launches savings, credit cooperative development project

Central Equatoria Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development on Wednesday launched Savings and Credit Cooperative or SACCO development project in Juba.
 
Minister Michael Tongun Martin said Cooperatives will improve agricultural production and rural development, Bakhita Radio reported.
 
He added that cooperative will address issues of poverty and unemployment among the communities.
 
Mr Tongun said the National Legislative Assembly passed three cooperative policies namely South Sudan Cooperative Act, South Sudan National Strategy for Cooperative and the Cooperative By-laws.
 
The minister said there is need for the national cooperative regulatory policy to be enacted to audit and guide cooperatives.
 
The Savings and Credit Cooperative Development project aimed at developing a powerful, autonomous and vibrant savings and credit cooperative society in all six counties of state.
