Lainya County citizens on Wednesday elected paramount chief, head and executive chiefs to strengthen their local government.
The election was held in compliance with the orders issued by the ministry of Local Government that chiefs should be elected democratically, Easter Radio reported.
Lainya County Acting Executive Director David Saravino Loku appreciated the entire community of Lainya for turning up to elect their leaders in a free and fair manner.
Lainya Payam new paramount chief Joseph Kwaje Elia appreciated the electoral committee for the democracy and transparency shown during the voting process.
He encouraged women to work hard and appealed to executives in Bomas to collaborate with the payam authorities to speed up development.
Pastor Enanei Taban advised the losers to remain calm because it was a democratic process.
