University of Bahr El Ghazal  or UBG deans called on new students to start academic year with serious commitment.

Academic Secretary Paul Malish Benjamin told students to respect themselves and others, Voice of Hope reported.

He said university students do not fight but use their mental logics for convincing people.

The Academic Secretary advised students to show good example to the community by presenting themselves in an honest manner.

Mr Malish called on students to mean seriousness and be ready to fulfil all academic requirements.

The Dean of Students Stephen Gum Mangok called on new students to be serious during lectures.

He clarified that students who fail more than seven courses would immediately be dismissed.

Mr Gum said any student who got a good average, and failed two to three courses will be allowed to sit for supplementary, but will not be allowed to go to the next class without clearing failed courses.

Mr Gum called on all parents to assist their children in paying tuition fees and other requirements.

He said all students must pay for their own accommodation because the university cannot accommodate students freely due to austerity measures.

All colleges of the University will be fully operational by September 30.
